Do you find yourself not as happy when you look at yourself in the mirror while fixing your hair? Have you even gone as far as, or is considering shaving your head to avoid the embarrassment? I understand how you feel. I have been in this situation countless times. I began losing my hair when I was 27. It was a gradual thinning out on the crown (top) of my head. The feeling I had at the time was low self-esteem. I felt like every time I looked at girl, she was noticing my hair loss and not me. Trust me it is not a good feeling. Of course, there were woman who said they didn?t notice or didn?t care, but in my mind, they did care and were just being nice. Let?s be honest, I know I would care. It is only natural to notice and everyone has an opinion.
As a result, I decided to fight my hair loss. Of course, there are many hair loss products out there that are nothing more than ?snake oils?. However, there are many products I have tried over the past 8 years and surprisingly, some of them do work. However, it takes patience –to see the results and persistence– to keep up the routine. If you don?t keep up the daily routine, you will begin to lose any hair re-growth or hair that was maintained. I?m now 35, I have the same amount of hair I had when I first started losing it. I?ll be honest, I have gone through phases of being lazy and not keeping up the daily routines, but I never went long enough where I had begun to lose more hair than I had gained or maintained. The toughest part was keeping up the routine of applying the topical solutions two times a day. I learned that if you discipline yourself, you really can results.
Below I list the products that were successful and the products that were not successful. Keep in mind, as I begin to list the products below, everyone is different and there can be different response times for each person.
The successful products:
? Follicare ? Contains the scalp treatment shampoo, 5% minoxidil and the all- natural DHT blocking pills. I took this product for 2 years and it worked very well for me. I had some regrowth and the thin hairs on my crown became thicker again.
? Avacor - Contains the scalp treatment shampoo, 5% minoxidil and the all natural DHT blocking pills. Like Follicare, I took this product for about 2 years and it worked very well for me. I had some regrowth and the thin hairs became thicker again. I would almost think these two products are the same, except some difference in the ingredients of the all-natural pills.
? Xandrox 5% or 15% - This is the most effective product so far, in terms of topical solutions. This contains 5% minoxidil / 5% azelaic acid solution for the treatment of alopecia androgenetica. In layman terms, it means going bald. Xandrox has been proven effective in limiting DHT (the leading cause of hair loss in 50 million men and women) right in the scalp. The DHT can strangle the hair follicle in the shaft and Xandrox can combat the DHT. However, like Minoxidil, it must continually be re-applied in the morning and night. I like the 5% Xandrox, due to the fast drying effects (usually within 1-2hours) and it leaves the hair looking thicker after it dries. However, there are now more powerful versions on the market. Non-successful products:
? Hair Genesis ? I tried this product after seeing countless infomercials late a night about it. It offers the traditional shampoo, all natural DHT blocking pills (2X a day) and minoxidil 5%. I found this product, for whatever reason, was not as effective as other products with the same combination.
? Laser Comb ? The laser comb did not produce any real results for me to notice. I still continued to lose my hair.
? Nioxin Shampoo and Scalp Treatment ? This shampoo left my hair feeling very soft and had tingly cool feeling afterwards for about 5-10 minutes. The feeling of my hair felt good. However, I did not notice any effect on my hair, if used without some type of topical solution with minoxidil.
